Carrie Spencer has been writing with an eye towards publication for the past year. Her other eye tends to wander, but don’t let that bother you. After innumerable online classes, craft books and a serious case of carpal tunnel, her goal is getting closer. A fearless editor at Harlequin has asked to see three chapters of her work. This was celebrated with much joy and vodka.
Carrie belongs to Romance Writers of America, Yosemite Romance Writers, Romance Writers Online, Fantasy, Futuristic & Paranormal Group and was a former Girl Scout. Her badges included Collecting, Leadership and the coveted World Trefoil Pin. She posts regularly to eHarlequin in a bi-monthly competition as well as to two blogs, http://www.smartassromance.com and http://www.wordwrangler.com. She also contributes comments regularly to Romance University.
Her riveting story about her bungee jumping experience, which left her Creative Writing teacher in stitches and awe, was published in 1990 in the Iowa Central Community College newsletter.
Carrie currently works as a restaurant manager, jewelry and website designer and is learning how to use a flat iron. She posts regularly on Facebook, and is tackling the ins-and-outs of Twitter. The website she designed, along with a portfolio is located at http://www.monarchcottages.com. She also designed her above-mentioned blog, and is competent in all areas of internet and computers. Aside from fab organizational skills which allow her to coordinate all of these activities, with the possible exception of the flatiron, she is tech-savvy so you won’t receive whiny emails asking why she can’t log in. She firmly believes that knowledge is power and her motto is Carpe Diem.
With the exception of the wrath of Old Man Winter, which resulted in a three-day power outage over Christmas—a blizzard with high winds, ice and several feet of snow, internet access is reliable thanks to the purchase of a behemoth generator named Big Bob.
Online classes have included POV, plotting, querying, synopsis, conflict, hooks and many others. She’s been taught by the best in the business including Lori Wilde, Laurie Schnebly, CJ Lyons and Margie Lawson.
Thank you for your consideration,
Carrie C Spencer
