Cheap Date Night – Short movie, fast food and quicker likker

‘Tis the season for hot soup and cold fingers! Luckily, if we get the soup going, it’ll take care of the fingers, or feel free to slide them up under your SO’s sweatshirt. =)

This is the fastest chicken noodle soup recipe – besides just opening a can of Campbell’s! – you’ll ever find.

1 can chicken broth
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/2 package frozen vegetables
1 cup leftover rotisserie chicken
handful of Reame’s frozen egg noodles
pepper

Literally toss it all except the noodles in a dutch oven, adding in another can full of water. Bring to a boil, add noodles, cook another 15-20 min. Done!

Smart Ass Romance - Bottums Up - Fun Drink RecipesWe’re going to follow this with another warmer-upper in the drinks department – Whipped Chocolate.

Hot chocolate mix
Hot water – but a little less than they recommend.
1/2 shot Smirnoff Marshmallow vodka
Whip cream

Prepare your hot chocolate, slip in the vodka and squirt whip cream over the top.

Can this get any easier?

=)

And here’s a little something in memory of my Grandma, who passed away on Friday.

  • Carrie, I’m sorry to hear about your Grandmother. This is a nice way to remember her. On a side note, I’d love to have the space for your liquer cabinet. It must be amazing.

    • Nancy….thanks for the kind words. And it’s not so much MY liquor cabinet as I work in a restaurant with a full bar. =) That helps!

  • My sympathies too, Carrie. It’s never easy to love someone you love and that’s a very sweet remembrance.

  • Aw, I’m so sorry to hear about your grandma. Chicken noodle soup should help you feel better. It’s a cure-all I swear. Marshmallow vodka? Oh, yes please. Just the name sounds delish. I’m with Nancy, I want your liquor cabinet (and it’s contents)!

Hugs to you and your family. That’s one of my favorite songs from my childhood and I bet your grandma is smiling down on you right now, singing along!

  • Hellion:

Great tribute to your grandmother. 🙂 I’m also a fan of Hank Williams Sr (not Jr). And I’m loving the Marshmallow vodka! I heard there was a whipped cream version too (and I’m a whipped cream fanatic!), but this sounds yummy. Sounds like you have the perfect duo for some comfort. I’m really sorry to hear about your grandmother. I know she must have been a wonderful person. She’ll be missed. Hugs to you and your family.

    • Thank you Ms. Hellion =) I’ll always miss her laugh.
And I’ll save you money by saying the marshmallow, whip cream and cake vodkas are all reaaaaaaaaaaaaally close to being one and the same. Any one of them would work interchangeably in the recipes.

I’m so sorry to hear about your grandma Carrie. I’m sure she was a special lady.

I love soup of all kinds. I didn’t know there was such a thing as marshmallow vodka! OMG. Thanks for recipes! I’ll try them out. The hot chocolate recipe would be yummy for Valentine’s Day.

  • So sorry to hear about your grandma, Carrie. Sending you a huge virtual hug.

I love chicken soup with noodles. Although I’m allergic to wheat so I only use gluten free noodles. This recipe really sounds easy. I’m so making it and the the whipped chocolate one too. Yay! Thanks for sharing.
