The Beautiful and the Insane – Nope, Not a Soap Opera – Christmas Music

I am a huuuuuuuge fan of Christmas music. I’d listen to it every day if I could. Many times in the summer I’ve cranked the AC up on high and howled along to Alvin and the Chipmunks. I tortured drill team girls with the trips to state contest, forcing them to listen to Christmas music 3 hours down and 3 hours back. And poor hubby will, I’m sure, tell you how many hours he’s spent, captive in the truck while the Christmas tunes roll on.

So I’m here to share you with some of the good, the bad and the ugly of the Christmas carol you tube videos.

First, Silent Night, sung in Gaelic by Enya. Simply exquisite.

so beautiful it makes you cry right? =)

Then this will give you the giggles – pets from You Tube sing Jingle Bells.

ahahaha….I just giggle every time I see that.

Here’s a group maybe you’ve never seen before – Straight No Chaser

Check out their version of Silent Night as well

Elvis Christmas? But of course!

Ah…love Blue Christmas!

And the classics with the Drifters singing White Christmas

=) Love the reindeer.

And then there’s just the …umm…weird.

*shaking my head*

there you have it boys and girls, the sounds and sights of Christmas! What’s your absolute favorite Christmas tune?

  • The links aren’t working. I click to play and it says embedding prohibited by request. Then I can click to watch the original video (on YouTube I assume) and it says the link is broken. What’s up with that??

    • well well well. looks like I found one of the new changes behind the new WordPress update! WOODIE!!!!! get your hairy rearend out here and fix this!

  • I’m a sucker for Christmas music too. I have to admit Elvis makes me happy but the oldies are awesome too. Nobody sings like Bing Crosby and his Little Drummer Boy with Bowie was amazing. If I’m in a foul mood Christmas music always makes it better. I think because I associate so many good times and events with the holiday season.

    • Lesann…the Bing Crosby/David Bowie song was spectacular and so unique for it’s time. I also love Judy Garland and Doris Day’s Christmas tunes! =)

  • Geez, too many faves to choose from, but if I MUST…then it’s “The Christmas Song” sung by Nat King Cole. (sighing)

I know we all have more on the platter during the holidays, and Christmas music helps me get through it.

  • Looooove Christmas music! I have everything from the old timers (Ella, Frank, Dean) to the Chipmunks to Disney Princesses! My poor family has to suffer through from December 1st all the way to December 26th. For some reason, I don’t play it in the house much, but then I’m not big on music in the house in general (I have sonar sensitive ears and if music is playing too loud, it hurts).

I DO, however, play music while I write and Enya is one of my favorites. As for Christmas favorites, hmmm, that’s tough. Either Ariel singing, “Jingle Shells” or any version of “Winter Wonderland” or “Baby it’s cold outside” or… oh, stop! I love them all.

    • Tameri, I’ve never been able to listen to music when I write. My brain only handles one thing at a time apparently! =) Definitely going to have to look up Jingle Shells!
