Hello friends and family! (yes, woodchucks are on the internet too, what – did you think we weren’t high-tech chucks?) Today we’re going to talk about users…and contributors. Did you know you can invite other people to post on your blog? No? Stay tuned my non-furry friend and Woodie will show you how!
On your dashboard, under Users – this box pops up (wordpress.com only)
Now if you have a friend who’d like to contribute a post to YOUR blog, go here. Add in their email address that they use to post on their OWN blog, and then choose one of these options.
Administrator. This person will have as much control over your blog as you do. Warning!
Editor. Next step down. They can edit any posts, edit categories etc. Again, beware.
Author. An author can edit, publish and delete their own posts. They can also upload images.
Contributor. Low man on the totem pole. They can create a post, but it gets sent to admin for review. They can’t even upload images! *Sob*
Once you’ve decided how to add your new contributor, click Add User. They can now enter your blog via their My Blogs section of the dashboard.
If the person you wish to invite DOESN’T have a WordPress account, then we need to move on to step 2.
On your dashboard under Users, click Invite
Enter the person’s name and email, delete the corny message that’s in there and send your own wicked cool one, then click add as contributor.
Your invitee will then receive an email inviting them to sign up for a WP account. Once they do, they’ll be listed under your Users tab and you can change their listing from Contributor to anything else your little heart desires.
There you go. Now you can have others post their wonderful ideas on YOUR blog!
